About
Cathy Driftmier, principal at Driftmier Design, creates personal interiors for clients so they can love their home and live in it, too.
Our basic philosophy is to build only the amount of square footage that can be utilized most of the time. Driftmier Design recommends putting the money saved by downsizing into the architectural and aesthetic details. For example, why have a formal dining room if you only use it once or twice a year?Make that into space that gets used regularly and is a spot you love to be in. You can always find a way to accommodate the occasional needs – why not enjoy your entire home all of the time?
We advise against sacrificing design just to save money. Our expertise includes finding ways to trim the budget in ways that do not adversely affect the overall look and feel of the final product. After re-designing your living space to your specifications, we want you to look around your house and say "I LOVE IT!"
Principal Cathy Driftmier received an Associates Degree in Interior Design from Madison Area Technical College in 2007. While in school she learned even more about the industry while working part time at Kitchen Works in kitchen and bath design (2004-2007). Upon graduation, Cathy immediately found a position as a full time Kitchen and Bath designer assuming full responsibility and oversight for major design projects.
At Driftmier Design, we listen to clients as we strive to provide the best re-design and remodeling experience possible. While our recommendations are based on industry best practices, we never pull "designer rank". We explain our reasoning and, in the end, design according to your specifications. After all, it's your home.
The Process
The Driftmier approach divides design into simple, manageable steps that facilitate a remodeling project on any scale:- An initial complementary consultation will determine the scope of your project and give you a broad overview if its requirements.
- The design phase zooms in on the project and includes preparation of any drawings related to cabinetry design or space planning required for your project. This phase is where your project starts to be personalized for you. Your designer works closely with you to ensure the space will meet your needs and fit your lifestyle.
- During the material/finish-selection phase, the designer will assist and advise you as you choose materials. Selections may include furniture, fabrics, upholstery, window treatments, paint colors, flooring, cabinetry, countertops, lighting fixtures, lamps, plumbing fixtures, and decorative accessories.
- With design complete, implementation begins. Your dream is about to become reality. Driftmier Design works closely with builders and installers to ensure the project is completed according to specifications and, most important, to your satisfaction.
- All work is billed on an hourly basis in quarter-hour increments. Invoices for services will be sent every other Friday and are due upon receipt.
- Color Consultation: What if you simply need help choosing paint colors? We visit your home with a sample box of paint colors and work closely with you to choose new colors. Then, we order large samples of each color chosen for you to keep and help you make the final selection.
